WASHINGTON, D.C. – The American Edge Project (AEP), a coalition of two dozen domestic organizations, released the following statement in response to President Biden’s State of the Union address.
“Tonight, President Biden covered a lot of ground, but missed the opportunity to highlight the serious threat posed by China as they mobilize national efforts to lead in critical technologies. China launched a $1.4 trillion plan to replace America as the innovation leader, investing heavily in the technologies of tomorrow. Those investments are paying off. One study found that China leads the United States in 37 of 44 strategic technologies, including artificial intelligence. Now, more than ever, we need bipartisan efforts to support America’s innovation pipeline from being undermined in the battle against techno-autocracies.”
