WASHINGTON, D.C. — The American Edge Project, a coalition of nearly two dozen domestic organizations, today launched new ads, ‘Healthcare,’ and ‘Progress,’ highlighting how artificial intelligence (AI) is strengthening American medical care.

‘Healthcare’ showcases how AI allows researchers to manufacture smarter medical devices that detect diseases more quickly and accelerate life-saving progress for patients who depend on them.

‘Progress’ features Christine Buckley, executive director and board president of the Brain Aneurysm Foundation, who describes how AI has supported research that has enabled tech companies to develop AI tools that help physicians detect aneurysms before they rupture.

“AI is transforming American medicine, helping researchers discover new treatments, detect disease sooner, and save lives that could not have been saved before,” said Doug Kelly, CEO of the American Edge Project. China is racing to lead this technology, and whoever leads it will set the standards and get the breakthroughs first. America must stay in front.”

AEP also released ‘Early Detection,’ an interview showcasing how AI is transforming healthcare and saving lives. In the ad, Tom Tinlin, chairman of the Brain Aneurysm Foundation, describes his near-fatal experience with an undetected brain aneurysm and how grateful he is that advancements in AI are helping detect deadly conditions earlier and saving lives. Christine Buckley is also featured in the ad and explains how AI provides hope for a future with better outcomes.

HEALTHCARE SCRIPT:

Artificial intelligence is transforming healthcare.

This breakthrough technology is empowering researchers to discover new treatments and cures.

AI is helping us manufacture smarter medical devices and it’s going to extend and improve the quality of our lives.

AI is transformative and it can be life-saving.

China wants to dominate AI and surpass the U.S. in modernizing healthcare.

America must lead.

America must innovate.

America must win.

Let’s protect our competitive edge.

PROGRESS SCRIPT:

As America’s largest private funder of brain aneurysm research, we support AI that enables earlier detection and saves lives.

One in 50 Americans has a brain aneurysm, and ruptures strike without warning.

Our early investments supported research that helped tech companies develop AI tools…enabling physicians to find aneurysms before they rupture.

AI helps doctors act sooner and accelerates life-saving progress.

Now is not the time to lose our competitive edge.

EARLY DETECTION SCRIPT:

I woke up with the worst headache I’ve ever felt. I was chewing on pain relievers all weekend long.

I’ll never forget when this short, stocky doctor said you have had a hemorrhagic stroke…you have a brain aneurysm that ruptured.

He said if there’s anybody that you need to talk to now is the time, because when it starts, it’s going to happen fast.

This particular aneurysm was what they called the “Widowmaker.”

I knew I was dying. There’s no other way to put it. I knew I was dying.

The Brain Aneurysm Foundation is a national organization. We are the largest private funder of brain aneurysm research.

So, 30,000 people a year who have a rupture…

half the people who rupture will die. It’s the most lethal form of stroke.

A million things had to go right for me to be sitting here talking to you. It’s just given me a whole new appreciation of life.

Early detection is critical.

I do really feel that AI is going to make a big impact on the future and saving lives.

I’m very grateful that AI is entering into this space. It gives me great hope.

Let’s continue to fund AI. Let’s continue to see what AI can do for not just aneurysm’s patients, but all patients.

I think AI in healthcare is just a game changer. It will complement what a physician can do. It’s about better outcomes and saving lives.

The opportunities are endless.
