WASHINGTON, DC — The American Edge Project, a coalition of two dozen domestic organizations, today launched a new ad highlighting the critical role American technology plays in driving U.S. economic growth, transforming the agricultural industry, and supporting the livelihoods of families and businesses across the nation.

The spot, “Jay,” features a farmer who explains that digital tools and technology are now as essential to farming operations as tractors and combines. Jay goes on to warn against shortsighted anti-innovation policies that could stifle these technologies and empower our foreign adversaries to surpass us in the global technology race.

“American technology and innovation drive progress and growth across every sector of our economy – from agriculture and manufacturing to healthcare and education,” said Doug Kelly, CEO of the American Edge Project. “Short-sighted policies that curb innovation would undermine U.S. technological leadership and hurt American workers, businesses, and communities. That is why it is so imperative that our leaders unite behind policies that promote innovation and strengthen American technology leadership.”

“At our family farm, we grow rice, corn and soybeans…

…and digital tools are as important to us as our tractors and combines.

“In the thirty years I’ve been farming, technology has transformed agriculture.

“But some in Washington want to stifle these technologies,

…and empower our foreign adversaries to leap ahead of us in the tech race.

“Protecting our competitive edge will strengthen our economic, national, and food security.

“Our leaders need to support American agriculture by strengthening our technology.”
