Ad Spots Feature Personal Testimony From Two Former Teachers

WASHINGTON, DC — The American Edge Project, a coalition of nearly two dozen domestic organizations, today launched a new ad campaign highlighting the critical role American technology plays in the lives of everyday families and communities.

The first spot, “Jamie,” features a former science teacher turned stay-at-home mom, who discusses the ways in which her family relies on technology at home and in the classroom. The second ad, “Tammy,” features a retired teacher and grandmother of nine, who expresses concern about foreign adversaries’ influence over the internet and believes Congress must strengthen American technology in order to protect our democratic values.

“American technology powers up every classroom, every household, and every community, revolutionizing how we teach, connect, and thrive,” said Doug Kelly, CEO of American Edge. “But short-sighted actions by policymakers could hand over America’s tech edge to Communist China. At this critical moment, we shouldn’t be putting brakes on innovation; we should be turbocharging it to ensure America’s unwavering lead on the global stage.”

JAMIE

“For 11 years, I taught science in public schools. Today, I’m a stay-at-home mom, raising our two kids.

“Technology is essential to our lives both at home and in the classroom

“From ordering groceries for the week to completing online assignments, we rely on tech tools for pretty much everything.

“Ensuring America is number one in innovation will create opportunities for my kids and yours.

“That’s why I’m so grateful our leaders continue to stand up for tech innovators, protecting America’s competitive edge for generations to come.”

TAMMY

“I was a teacher for 30 years, and today I’m a grandmother of nine.

“Technology is essential to our everyday lives,

“…and that’s why I’m concerned about our foreign adversaries influence over the internet.

“That’s not the future I want for my grandchildren or yours.

“Congress needs to protect our democratic values…

and strengthen, not weaken, American technology.”
