WASHINGTON, DC — The American Edge Project, a coalition of nearly two dozen domestic organizations, today launched a new ad highlighting the beneficial role technology plays in Americans’ daily lives. The spot features Brynn Bruestle, a mother of two living in Michigan, who relied on technology and telehealth platforms to stay connected with her doctors during her pregnancy at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. The ad concludes with Brynn urging Congress to stay focused on tackling inflation instead of threatening American technology and innovation.

“Technology fuels our economy, fosters a free and open internet, and helps improve the livelihoods of tens of millions of American families,” said Doug Kelly, CEO of American Edge Project. “Yet some in Congress are pursuing misguided anti-innovation legislation that will stifle the tech innovators that create the tools and services Americans rely on. This is the wrong approach. Elected officials should focus their attention on top-of-mind issues like inflation and rising gas prices instead of undercutting the tech innovation that supports our economy and strengthens our national security.”

Brynn Bruestle: “I’m a mom of two.

“During the pandemic… and my pregnancy…technology and telemedicine were vital to keeping us connected with our doctors…and now we rely on the Internet to order the things my family needs.

“I wish Congress would focus on bringing down the cost of gas and groceries…instead of going after the tech innovators that support our economy.

“Undermining American technology could hurt families like mine.

“Congress should fight inflation…and leave our technology alone.”
