The American Edge Project, a coalition of nearly two dozen domestic organizations, today released a new advertising campaign to spotlight the vital importance of tech innovation for the American economy and Main Street businesses – particularly as our country fights to come back from the COVID-19 crisis. “Vital” is the third in an ongoing series of spots slated to run in the largest markets across America. The ad features former United States Senators Saxby Chambliss (R-GA) and Kent Conrad (D-ND) – both of whom serve as Co-Chairs of the Project’s Economic Advisory Board – and follows a recent opinion column by the bipartisan duo on why America’s technological advantage must be maintained.
Script:
Senator Kent Conrad: I’m Senator Kent Conrad. I was a Democratic Senator from North Dakota.
Senator Saxby Chambliss: I’m Senator Saxby Chambliss. And I was a Republican Senator from Georgia. Together, we served for 40 years in Congress.
Conrad: Today, we’re proud to be serving as advocates for America’s tech innovators. They are vital to our economy and Main Street businesses.
Chambliss: Our digital economy supports nearly 9 million jobs – and it’s a vibrant sector, growing at three times the rate of the overall economy.
Conrad: And 84 percent of small businesses are using at least one major digital platform to reach their customers.
Chambliss: A free and open internet is fostering job creation and strengthening small businesses in every community in America.
Conrad: And let’s not forget that tech innovation has kept our economy going during this pandemic.
Chambliss: Our nation’s leaders can keep America’s dynamic economy growing.
Conrad: And unleash the potential of American workers and small businesses.
